Joakim Rakovac memorial house
Native house of national hero Joakim Rakovac (1914 – 1945). Situated in the village of Rakovci not far from Baderna. Open for the public in 1975.
The permanent exhibition is curently closed. It contains a collection of weapons and other related objects from the NOB movement (National Liberation Movement) in Istria together with a small ethnographic collection from the Poreč area. The house shows visitors a typical Istrian village housing which is also where Rakovac was born and raised. The space itself has historical value. During World War II it was linked to many important events related to the foundation of the liberation comitee and organization of the liberation battles. The house is as well an interesting example of Istrian rural architecture.
