Gallery
The majority of the artworks were collected during the exhibitions of the Poreč Annale, the oldest Croatian group exhibition of contemporary art that has been continuously held since 1961. The manifestation Annale was launched in 1961 on the initiative of Ante Šonje, former Museum's director, supported by the academic painter Nenad Krivić and sculptor Quintino Basanić as art advisors of the Tourist board. The aim was to revitalize the touristic offer of Poreč. Annale has subsequently grown into an important manifestation where many representative contemporary artists have participated while curators and art critic from the whole country were engaged too. Already in 1964, with the participation of the Italian painter Mario Gorini, the Annale becomes an international event. The idea was to gather yearly, along with the national ones, artists from different foreign countries too. In 1970 France participated in the Annale exhibition as well and world famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Paul Signac, Morice Utrillo, Joan Mirò etc., showed their work. The Museum was organizing the Annale exhibition until 1978 when the Open University of Poreč. The Annale takes place in the space of the Istrian Parliament Hall.
Drawings collection
In this collection there are drawings from the period after WWII until today. We have authors like Milan Kićin, Nenad Krivić, Tanja Kostanjević and others. The majority of the works were exhibited during the Annale exhibition or other temporary shows and donated to the Museum afterwards.
Collection of prints and graphic arts
Artworks made after WWII until today are being kept in the collection. We have works made in different techniques: linotypes, etchings, silkscreens and screeprintins by modern and contemporary croatian artists (Edo Murtić, Miroslav Šutej, Livio Cuccurin, Zlatko Prica etc.). The thematic areas of the prints are various, from known panoramas of Poreč to abstract motives. The majority of the artworks were shown at the Poreč Annale or other temporary exhibitions and donated afterwards to the Museum by the authors themselves.
Ceramics collection
The works in the ceramics collection have been produces in the period from after WWII until today. There are 159 items in the collection, mainly artworks from contemporary artists (Emil Benčić, Melanija Krajina, Dora Pezić-Mijatović, Ljerka Njerš, Vlasta Baranjaj, Milenija Mulanović-Ševćek, Stela Skopal, Mira Petričić, Vera Gendić, Milan Kićin, Milan Berbuć, Zlata Radej etc.). Those items have been maily donated by the artists after the exhibitons of contemporary ceramics that have been held in Poreč during the summer touristic season in the 50s and 60s.
Sculpture collection
The artworks in this collection have been created from WWII until today. The majority have been ehxibited during the Poreč Annale or in other temporary exhibitions and later donated to the Museum by the authors themselves.
Art photography collection
In this collection we have works of contemporary photographers such as Tošo Dabac, Vladimir Bugarin and Luciano Bibulić. The motives in the photographs are mainly panoramas an other motives from Poreč and Istria.
Collection of posters and printed matter
Posters and other printed matter from the period after WWII until today are being held in this collection. The majority of the works are contemporary posters and few other prints. The posters have been mostly made for exhibitions and other cultural events organized or partnered by the Museum and other cultural institutions in Poreč.
Paintings collection
In the collection of painting there are artworks made from the end of WWII until today. We have paintings in different techniques. Many of the works in the collection have been donated to the Museum in the occasion of the Poreč Annale and other temporary exhibitions. The collection is important either for the authors whose works are present and because it offers an overview of what have been exhibited during the annual shows in Poreč which is also an overview of the artistic production in the region in the second half of the 20th century.
Textile and tapestry collection
In the textile and tapestry collection there are held artworks made from the WWII until the present day. The majority of the artworks have been shown in the Poreč Annale or temporary art shows and have been later donated to the museum by their authors.
